Why we like Twitter...
- Twitter gives off a more professional vibe than Facebook, making it more likely for students to connect with their lecturers.
- Educators from all across the UK, and the world, are on Twitter so it is a great way to share good practice and get ideas.
- Students can connect with industry specialists making it easier for them to get into the industry when they leave further education.

Twitter helps me to connect with educators all around the world which is brilliant for me as a trainee teacher. I can get tips and advice from teachers who have been in the industry for a long time, get into debates and chats with other educators from around the world, know where the best events are going to be for CPD and connect with industry specialists who I can get to come into the College and speak with my learners. |

Twitter's live-streaming tool - perfect for connecting with other colleges and employers beyond the four walls of your classroom in debates, discussions, and class presentations. |

The use of only 140 letters meant we, the students, had to narrow down our opinions in shorter words. But it also meant that our opinions were read within the hashtag our lecturer used. |

Twitter, while primarily being used for social activities such as sharing photos and following celebrities, is also a great platform for interacting with other professionals and forming debates. Some of my students have used it in conjunction with Periscope, another twitter owned property to livestream a debate on CACHE and surrounding topics. Twitter is a great social media platform for students and staff to talk to others about anything and the limited character count makes tweets straight to the point and easy to read. |
